The announced closure dates and what they mean
Aspen/Pitkin County Airport is scheduled to close for runway reconstruction at 11 p.m. on April 4, 2027, and reopen at 7 p.m. on November 19, 2027. According to the Aspen Daily News report linked below, there will be no flights in or out during that period. This is an airport closure, not simply reduced service or a shorter daily operating window. Plan your flight into another airport rather than expecting an ASE arrival during the shutdown.
These details were last verified November 7, 2026. Confirm the current schedule with your airline or the airport before purchasing travel and again before departure. The announced reopening hour does not mean that every carrier or private operator will have a flight available immediately. Treat a flight reservation and an airport reopening as separate items to verify, particularly for a trip close to either boundary of the closure.
Eagle County Regional Airport: EGE
Eagle is one of the alternatives identified for travelers during the closure. Aspen to EGE is about one and a half hours in good conditions, making it a useful starting point when comparing flight schedules and road time. Check the actual airline services available for your travel dates rather than choosing an airport solely because it is closer. A convenient landing time can matter as much as a shorter drive.
For an EGE transfer, send the flight information, passenger count, luggage inventory and final address. Build the day around baggage collection and meeting the vehicle as well as the drive. If separate households arrive on different flights, compare a shared departure after everyone is ready with separately arranged transportation. One vehicle can simplify the road journey, but waiting for a much later arrival changes how the first group spends the day.
Grand Junction Regional Airport: GJT
Grand Junction is another alternative named for travelers affected by the closure. The Aspen–GJT drive is roughly two to two and a half hours via Glenwood Springs in good conditions. Use that as a planning range, not a guaranteed transfer duration. Consider the complete itinerary: a suitable flight into Grand Junction may work better for your group than another airport with a less convenient arrival or departure time.
For families, make child-seat needs and the equipment inventory part of the initial request. For larger groups, decide whether everyone needs to remain together or whether arrivals are genuinely separate trips. A multi-hour drive makes seating and luggage fit more consequential than they might appear during a short town transfer. Avoid selecting a vehicle at its passenger limit until ski bags, suitcases and other bulky belongings have been reviewed.
Denver International Airport: DEN
Denver is the third alternative identified for travelers in the closure reporting. Aspen to Denver takes about three and a half to four hours via I-70 and Glenwood in winter, in good conditions. Weather can add significant time. When comparing a Denver itinerary, include the road journey in both directions rather than focusing only on the flight. A departure that looks convenient from home may require a much earlier start from Aspen.
Independence Pass on Highway 82 is closed roughly November through late May. Do not build a winter route around crossing it. Summer travel via Independence Pass can be shorter, but seasonal opening and current conditions must be checked rather than assumed. Ask for a plan tied to your date and destination, and keep meals, rest stops and arrival-day commitments realistic for a longer drive after flying.
Rifle Garfield County Airport: RIL
Rifle is an additional option to discuss with your private aviation operator, rather than treating it as an interchangeable airline substitute. Aspen to RIL is about one hour fifteen minutes in good conditions. The flight operator must determine whether the airport and operating arrangements suit the aircraft and mission. Do not infer flight availability, aircraft acceptance or specific FBO access from the road distance alone.
Once the aviation team confirms Rifle, share the arrival arrangements and ground contact with us. Private jet service includes flight tracking, skis and luggage handling, warmed vehicles before arrival and child seats on request. Diversions are re-routed without re-booking, but a planned alternate arrival is better handled before departure. Confirm the meeting point for the actual airport; ASE's Atlantic Aviation lobby instructions do not automatically describe a Rifle pickup.
Spring skiing and summer plans need new timing
The closure begins before several scheduled ski-season endings. Aspen Mountain is scheduled through April 18, 2027; Snowmass and Aspen Highlands through April 11; and Buttermilk through April 4. Closings are as conditions allow. A trip for the final days of skiing may therefore require an alternate airport on arrival, departure or both, even if part of the holiday falls before the runway shutdown.
Summer weddings, family stays and corporate gatherings also need airport planning that reflects the longer drive. Ask guests which airport they intend to use before assigning shared vehicles. A guest landing in Denver and another landing at Eagle are not arriving at the same pickup point. For trips around November 19, confirm the actual flight schedule and reopening status instead of assuming the announced evening reopening supports your preferred itinerary.
How we help connect the airport and your stay
We help organize the ground portion: vehicle selection, airport-to-address routing and the itinerary details needed to connect your arrival with your stay.
Black SUVs accommodate up to six passengers; Executive Sprinters accommodate nine to thirteen. Larger group options include Sprinter limo vans for fourteen to sixteen, party buses for twenty to forty with some up to roughly fifty, and motor coaches for forty to fifty-six. Every vehicle has WiFi, and winter tires are fitted all ski season. Tell us the luggage load and exact destination so capacity and access can be considered together.
Request an estimate after comparing the whole journey
Send your dates, alternate airport, flight information, final address, passenger count and luggage details. Most bookings have a four-hour minimum; prom, homecoming and high-season Friday–Sunday bookings have a six-hour minimum. Your rate is locked in when you book, with no surge pricing. Chauffeur gratuity is not included. Ask for the return transfer as part of the same planning conversation so departure-day timing is not left unresolved.

Keep airline and airport confirmations separate from the ground reservation: we can help plan the drive, but we cannot confirm an airline schedule or authorize airport operations.
