Start with the lesson location, not the mountain name
Buttermilk transportation often revolves around lessons, developing skiers and family logistics. The most useful first detail is the meeting point shown on the actual lesson confirmation. Do not assume every activity on the mountain starts at the same entrance. Send the booking instructions before travel so the intended arrival can be checked against current vehicle access and the walk needed after unloading.
The official 2026–27 Buttermilk season dates are December 12, 2026–April 4, 2027, with closing as conditions allow. Buttermilk’s scheduled final day is earlier than those of the other three mountains. For a spring family trip, check the lesson calendar and mountain operations before choosing dates. A transportation booking cannot extend the ski season or guarantee that your preferred lesson or terrain is available.
A calm morning requires time outside the vehicle
Lesson check-in, rental fitting, bathroom stops and finding the instructor are not driving time. Plan backward from when your family must be ready, then add room for unloading and dressing. Have one adult check the equipment list before departure and another keep track of children during boarding. For a first ski day, a modest buffer is more useful than an optimistic arrival that depends on nothing going wrong.
Choose the exact pickup entrance at your residence and have everyone gather there before the departure time. Share the ages of children and request any child seats when asking for an estimate. A child’s equipment should be identified separately rather than mixed into a pile of similar bags. Ask about the appropriate loading point for your destination, and be prepared for a short walk rather than expecting a vehicle at the lesson meeting area.
Gear and boot bags deserve their own checklist
Count skis, boards, boots, helmets and bags separately from passengers. Children’s equipment can take less space individually but is easy to overlook when several adults assume another person packed it. Keep lesson information, snacks and necessary medication accessible. Place dry footwear in a clearly identified bag so the return does not start with everyone searching through the entire equipment load at the curb.
An Executive Sprinter seats 9–13 depending on the configuration and can suit a family group with ski luggage, subject to confirming the actual load. A black SUV seats up to six, but six passengers plus every family’s equipment still requires a fit assessment. Tell us if suitcases are also traveling. Neither the seat number nor the fact that the trip is short makes equipment capacity unlimited.
Ski-week chauffeurs for early finishers
A dedicated ski-week chauffeur can support a morning lesson drop-off, a shorter day for one family and a later collection for stronger skiers. Put each movement into the request, including which adult accompanies children and where everyone returns. Transportation is not child supervision: establish the responsible adult and the handoff arrangements with your lesson provider before deciding how the day will work.
Not every family member has the same energy at the end of a lesson. If an early return is likely, reserve a workable window rather than hoping the vehicle will be available on demand. Simultaneous trips may need more than one vehicle. Confirm which hours are held for your party and how changes are handled. A shared written plan is especially helpful when grandparents or another household join only part of the ski week.
Afternoon collection and event-day access
Choose pickup timing around the lesson’s actual finish and the time needed to collect equipment, not simply the point when an adult stops skiing. If the family wants a relaxed snack or après stop, include it before the collection window. Tell the chauffeur when everyone is assembled and follow the confirmed loading instructions. The afternoon meeting place may differ from the spot used for a morning drop-off.
When Buttermilk hosts a major event, ordinary access patterns may change. Ask the organizer and mountain operator for current traffic, security and loading guidance; do not assume a private vehicle receives special access. No event dates or access permissions should be inferred from the regular ski calendar. A family lesson morning and a spectator outing are different transportation jobs and should be described that way when requesting a vehicle.
Dinner runs after a family ski day
For dinner in Aspen, leave room to return to the accommodation, change clothes and regroup before the reservation. A short ride does not mean a quick family turnaround. If children will finish the evening earlier than adults, decide who accompanies them and request the extra trip in advance. Do not leave the return dependent on an exhausted family member volunteering to drive.
Spring travelers should note that ASE’s announced closure begins at 11 p.m. April 4, 2027, the same date as Buttermilk’s scheduled closing day, and ends at 7 p.m. November 19. Confirm flight plans with the airline and airport rather than assuming an Aspen departure is available after that ski weekend. Alternative-airport transportation should be planned separately from the local lesson shuttle.
We are open 24/7. Hablamos español. Every vehicle has WiFi, and vehicles have winter tires all ski season.
